Door Scheduler

Generates coordinated Revit door schedules and CAD-style graphic door sheets from placed door instances, with grouped type data, legend-component graphics, dimensions, materials and sheet placement controls.

Door Scheduler conceptual interface

Overview

Door Scheduler is a Revit documentation automation add-in that collects placed Door instances, groups them by Type Mark or Family and Type, and prepares coordinated tabular and graphic schedule outputs. The tool can create a native Revit Door Schedule containing Type Mark, Door Type, Width, Height, quantity and available material parameters, then create a door schedule sheet using a selected title block. Its preferred graphic workflow duplicates a user-prepared Legend template containing real Door Legend Components for plan and front/elevation views, copies those components for each grouped door type, assigns the corresponding Door Family Type, and builds a CAD-style panel with borders, dimensions, material callouts and door information. The original Legend template is protected from modification. Users can control sheet naming, title block, legend scale and drawing-area offsets, while the generator keeps the selected graphic scale fixed and adjusts panel layout to the available sheet area. Settings are saved to JSON for repeat use.

Key features

  • Collects placed Revit Door instances from the active model
  • Groups doors by Type Mark or by Family and Type
  • Summarizes Door Type, Type Mark, description and required quantity
  • Reads door Width and Height from Revit family/type parameters
  • Builds door location summaries from project parameters, room relationships and level fallback
  • Collects door Mark values for grouped door instances
  • Collects available door, frame, panel, glass, finish and material parameter values
  • Creates or replaces a native Revit Door Schedule
  • Door Schedule includes Type Mark, Door Type, Width, Height, available materials and quantity
  • Sorts the Revit schedule by Type Mark and Door Type
  • Creates a Door Schedule sheet using a selectable title block
  • Preferred Legend workflow duplicates a user-selected source Legend with detailing
  • Uses real Door Legend Components for plan and front/elevation graphics
  • Protects the original Legend template and performs generated changes only on the duplicate
  • Creates one CAD-style graphic panel per grouped door type
  • Creates actual Revit width and height dimensions where supported, with fallback dimension values when Revit blocks them
  • Creates material callouts with annotation leaders around the door elevation graphic
  • Supports configurable legend scale, sheet naming and drawing-area top/left/right/bottom offsets
  • Places the Revit schedule against the usable drawing-area boundary and positions the graphic legend from the configured top-left offset
  • Keeps the selected Legend scale fixed and adjusts panel columns/layout to available sheet width
  • Supports replace-existing schedule and generated graphic-view options
  • Saves Door Scheduler settings to JSON for reuse
  • Provides a door-type preview and settings workflow before generation
  • Writes a diagnostic error log when a project-specific generation error stops the command
WORKFLOW

How the plugin fits into production

  1. 01

Open a Revit 2025 project containing placed Door instances.

  2. 02

Prepare or select a Legend template containing one Door plan Legend Component and one Door front/elevation Legend Component.

  3. 03

Launch Door Scheduler and review the detected grouped door types in the preview.

  4. 04

Choose whether doors are grouped by Type Mark or Family and Type.

  5. 05

Configure sheet prefix, number, name, title block, graphic scale and drawing-area offsets.

  6. 06

Choose the required Revit schedule and graphic-sheet output options.

  7. 07

Generate the schedule; the add-in collects door data and creates or replaces the native Revit Door Schedule.

  8. 08

The add-in duplicates the Legend template, creates one graphic panel for each door group and assigns the matching Door Family Type.

  9. 09

The generated sheet places the graphic legend and optional Revit schedule within the configured drawing area.

  10. 10

Review door quantities, dimensions, materials, locations, panel layout and sheet placement before project issue.

Interested in Door Scheduler?

Currently under development and controlled testing. The preferred graphic workflow requires a prepared source Legend containing two real Door Legend Components: one plan component and one front/elevation component. The original source Legend is protected, but generated schedules, dimensions, annotation placement, material data, graphic panels and sheet layout should be reviewed before formal project issue. Some Legend contexts may prevent creation of Revit Dimension elements; the tool falls back to displayed dimension values in those cases.
