Stair Detailer Tool

Automates stair detailing by generating coordinated stair detail views and sheet layouts from a defined scope box, reducing repetitive Revit documentation work.

Stair Detailer Tool conceptual interface

Overview

Stair Detailer Tool is a Revit API add-in being developed to automate repetitive stair documentation workflows. The tool uses a defined stair detailing area, such as a Scope Box, to generate coordinated stair detail views and organize them into standardized drawing sheets. Its purpose is to reduce the manual work involved in creating stair documentation while improving consistency between views, sheets and annotations. The workflow is being developed around practical BIM production requirements and remains under controlled testing and refinement.

Key features

  • Scope Box-based stair detailing — define the stair documentation area using a selected Scope Box.
  • Automatic stair detail view generation — reduce repetitive manual creation of stair documentation views.
  • Automated sheet setup — organize generated stair views into coordinated drawing sheets.
  • Coordinated documentation workflow — keep stair views and sheets organized around a repeatable detailing process.
  • Keynote and annotation support — support the stair annotation and keynote workflow developed as part of the tool concept.
  • Reduced repetitive setup — minimize manual view and sheet preparation for recurring stair documentation tasks.
